Kitchen

Keira has really wanted a kitchen. That is what we wanted to get her for Christmas, but couldn't. A few weeks ago, I found one almost identical to this one, just different colors and in worse shape, at Savers (a second hand store) for 30 bucks. I went home to talk to Jason about it and did some searching online. I almost fell over dead to see that they usually run $150 and up and you have to put it together yourself. When I went back a few hours later. The lady said someone had just walked out with it. I felt pretty bummed that I missed out on such a good deal, but last week after looking at every second hand store that I could think of and none showing up, I decided to look on craigslist and there were two posted. I ended up getting an appointment to look at this one and the lady gave it to me for 70 and drove it across town for me to our apartment. Keira loves it! I was thrilled to have a place to put her food and dishes. She was thrilled to be able to cook and do dishes. It's a win win situation.

In the Life of Hallie

Hallie can pull herself up onto things...
Her only problem is that she doesn't know how to get down without hitting her head. This is her stuck and fearful of just dropping down because she doesn't want more bruises on her head from just flopping down...
She is trying to climb stairs. She gets really mad if we go upstairs without her. So she is trying to figure out how to get up there herself...

Hallie has gotten in her two bottom teeth. I finally am getting pictures of her where you can actually see them (the picture is kind of small you will probably have to click on it to see her toothy smile)...

Hallie got her toes painted for the first time....

pink of course...

Hallie started scooting around beginning January. She has been getting up on all four, but never went anywhere. She would just rock, but last week she started to do the official crawl...

She also copies sounds. Her and Keira can really battle it out to see who can get the last squeal. This is her second favorite game. Face to face making the same sound...

She is relaxing in her jumperoo. We got to for her last month for her Christmas present. She likes it, but not if we are eating. If we are eating she freaks out because she wants the food too.

Peekaboo

For the most part these two really love each other. Hallie was sitting and eating her puffs. Keira was coloring with chalk. This is what soon happened...

Growing Up Too Fast (Feb. 18, 2010)

Keira is getting so big. She tries to say all the things I do on the phone, her speech over the last few days has gotten so clear, and her sentences are getting longer. She has also decided that she doesn't need help anymore using the bathroom or putting on her clothes.

Sick (Feb. 18, 2010)

Other than a cold or a runny nose, I haven't had a sick kid. It was bound to happen. Hallie got sick and she just layed around on the floor with her blanket and her cow. She wouldn't eat. Poor baby lost a little more than a pound.

Begging for Food (Feb. 13, 2010)

Hallie is like a little puppy. The way she whines and cries especially. Sometimes I think we have a puppy. Well her new thing is begging for food from Keira and Keira would give it to her if we didn't tell her not to. It doesn't matter if Hallie has just eating if we are eating she comes to beg.

I Don't Want to Get Ready for Bed! (Jan. 31, 2010)

Keira has started fighting going to bed. The most common thing that happens is she runs away before, while, or after we get her jammies on. She had gotten away while I was trying to get her jammies on and this is where I found her.

Finger Painting ( Jan. 27, 2010)

I found some old paints that I used in college for an interior design project and let Keira have them before they were all dried up. She thought it was great. She had to stick her finger in each paint before she would rub it on her paper.

She ended up getting it in her hair and on her face, but it was all easy to get off.

Just Being Silly (Jan. 25 2010)

So I went and found Keira some feet pajamas at a second hand store because at Christmas she borrowed Katelyn's and loved them. She hadn't worn feet pjs since she was one. She dressed up and wanted to take pictures.

Sleeping on the Couch (Jan. 21, 2010)

From time to time the cushions get taken off the couch and slides, forts, and anything else that comes to mind is made with them. On this occasion, Keira wanted to sleep the night on them. So we tucked her in, shut off all the lights, and went up stairs. We were sure that she would want to go get in bed once she was down there with the lights off and alone for a while. No such luck. She really wanted to sleep on it, but we ended up making her get in her own bed. I don't think I trust her sleeping down there.

This One Is For My Mom (Jan. 19, 2010)

I was trying to see if Hallie would really sleep without being burritoed up. With Keira we just didn't wrap her up one day and she was fine. So I tried it for her naps. Day after day with napping, she screamed and cried and never went to sleep. One day for 10 whole minutes it stopped. I couldn't believe my ears. So I had to go and look. This is what I found....

She is eight and a half months and after all this she is still being wrapped up. I tried, but she just loves being wrapped up.

Wiggles Obsession (Jan. 11, 2010)

Keira was pretty obsessed with Wiggles up until about two weeks ago (now she is obsessed with Backyardigans). This is a very mild version of her trying to sing and dance along with them....

Bedtime Stories (Jan. 11, 2010)

Keira wanted Hallie to lay in her bed while I read bedtime stories. So I did it for a few nights and they both actually really loved it. After a while though they started getting a little crazy, they would get each other wound up, and I'd end up reading to myself...so I had to put it to an end for now at least.

Bending Over Backwards (January 10, 2010)

So Hallie isn't as big a fan of the bumbo as Keira was. When you put her in there she is mostly doing this...

She has even figured out how to get out.

Going Running (January 8, 2010)

Jason was going out running and Keira wanted to go run too. This is what she put on to get ready...

After Christmas Salt Lake Party (December 28, 2009)

So this is what happens when you get men together in a hot tub....

We went down to Salt Lake to meet up with Jason's family. Everyone was there except one brother. Almost all of the kids were packed in the hot tub with Jason, Jared, and Greg. The kids also shared some of the fun of rolling in the snow. This little bite of fun soon turned into competition as the men battled it out. Jason ended with this. He was to beat the record of six by doing seven rolls, but somehow they all got of count so the record is tied. Jason and Greg each did six rolls.

Exhausted and All Burritoed Up (December 26, 2009)

Hallie was exhausted after swimming and we wrap her up tight. Here she is passed out on a bed of pillows...

Hallie's First Swimming (December 26, 2009)

Hallie loves water. She got to go swimming for the first time at the hotel we stayed at for Christmas.

Christmas Eve Excitment/Nativity/One Present

Keira excited for things to get started

A Kohler tradition is that on Christmas Eve we act out the Nativity. No matter how big or small you are.... We were lacking in all the costumes that we usually have, but Jason was Joseph, Rily was Mary, and I was the donkey who probably had a few bald spots from hair getting pulled...
Keira and Leah were sheperds, and Sammy was the angel...

Another Kohler tradition is to open one present on Christmas Eve it is usually pjs. These are the biggest feet pajamas made. These were Billy's dream jammies except they didn't have the bum flap....

Cookies for Santa (December 24, 2009)

We went down to Rexburg for Christmas and Keira got to decorate cookies for Santa with her cousins.

Excited for Christmas (December 18, 2009)

Keira being Santa and Keira getting Hallie to be Santa.

Seeing Santa (December 16, 2009)

Keira was excited to see Santa, but once she got on his lap she was freaked out. She didn't cry, but her face went extremely red and when we got her to talk she was so terrified she sounded like a man.
